Filestage

The new way to manage feedback on creative assets

About Filestage

Filestage was founded in 2014 by three co-founders in Germany who set out to eliminate the chaos of emailing files for review. It evolved from a video annotation prototype into a comprehensive content approval system that supports all major file types, including documents, images, audio, and videos. Teams can set up custom review steps and invite internal or external stakeholders to provide direct comments on the content. Key features include precise on-file annotations, version management with side-by-side comparisons, and automated workflows that track approvals and document changes. Filestage also integrates with popular tools to fit into diverse workflows. Common use cases range from marketing campaign assets and design proofs to video production and even regulated content that requires legal and compliance sign-off. With enterprise-grade security, Filestage is often chosen by organizations that require a reliable, audit-friendly method for reviewing and approving work faster and more transparently.

Filestage FAQs

What is Filestage?

Filestage is an online proofing and approval software that enables teams to share content and gather feedback in one place. It allows reviewers to comment directly on files (such as videos, PDFs, images, or audio) and helps streamline the entire review and sign-off process compared to using email or manual methods.

Who is Filestage for?

Filestage is used by professionals and teams that deal with frequent content reviews – for example, marketing teams, creative agencies, designers, video producers, and project managers. It’s especially useful for medium to large organizations where multiple stakeholders (including external clients or internal departments like Legal and Compliance) need to collaborate on approving content.

What are common use cases for Filestage?

Teams use Filestage to coordinate feedback on a variety of projects: marketing campaigns (ads, social media visuals, brochures), design and branding assets, product packaging and labels, video and multimedia productions, website or app content, and more. Essentially, any scenario where you have creative or informational files that require input and approval from several people can be managed through Filestage to keep the feedback organized and version-controlled.

Does Filestage integrate with other tools?

Yes. Filestage offers integrations to fit into your existing workflow. It provides a Zapier integration, which allows connection to thousands of other apps (for things like automatic notifications or task creation). It also has native integrations or extensions for certain platforms (for example, a plugin for Monday.com was introduced, and teams often integrate Filestage with Slack or Microsoft Teams via notifications). Additionally, Filestage has an API and supports SSO, so companies can build custom integrations or streamline login and user management with their enterprise systems.

Is there a free version or trial of Filestage?

Yes. Filestage offers a free plan, which includes basic functionality with some limitations (such as a cap on the number of active projects). This is a good starting point for small teams or for trying out the service. There’s also a 30-day free trial of the whole platform (no credit card required), which lets you use all Professional plan features. This trial allows you to evaluate Filestage with no restrictions. After 30 days, you can either upgrade to a paid plan or continue using the Free plan.
